Navios VL newcomer fixed

A $41m VLCC bought from compatriot finds one-year employment in pool.

Navios Maritime Acquisition has tied up a period contract for its latest VLCC.

New York-listed Navios tells investors the 305,200-dwt Nave Electron (built 2002) has been chartered out to a high quality counterparty for a year.

Navios says income from the VLCC will be based on pool earnings.

While it does not name the charterer or the pool, the ship is known to be joining Navig8’s VL8 Pool.

As TradeWinds was first to report, Navios bought the Nave Electron for $41m in May.

The vessel, formerly known as the Charles Eddie, was snapped up from Greek owner Sincere Navigation.

Navios Acquisition now has a fleet of 11 VLCCs, 23 product tankers and four chemical tankers.
