Navig 8 commercial director Jason Klopfer is declining comment on the reports, which have Navig8 merging the 23 vessels in its aframax pool with the five currently controlled by ST.
The alliance makes sense for both sides, market observers maintain. Navig8 bolsters access to ST cargoes while the Glencore arm is able to leverage Navig8's commercial platform.
Toward that end, some are speculating more could come from the alliance, given trading giant ST's presence in multiple vessel classes -- products tankers, suezmaxes, VLCCs -- that are also priorities for pools power Navig8.
