The Subcommittee on Energy and Power hosted the hearing, which was entitled: “The Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975: Are We Positioning America for Success in an Era of Energy Abundance?”

According to a statement issued by the committee’s chairman, Republican congressman Ed Whitfield, members explored the impact that export restrictions and other laws have on domestic energy supplies.

The hearing included presentations from a panel of experts who briefed the politicians about the changing face of the US energy markets under a broader bid to understand how the economy is reacting to the new landscape.
