The new entity will be called Gener8 Maritime and be based in New York, the companies said.
The fleet will include 21 VLCC newbuildings, plus 25 existing ships: seven VLCCs, 11 suezmaxes, four aframaxes, two panamax tankers and a handymax tanker.
These have a capacity of more 11m dwt and an average age of less than five and half years when all the vessels are delivered.
