New York-listed DHT says the 309,300-dwt DHT Chris (built 2001) has been taken for around 10 months at $45,000 daily.
The tanker had previously been operating on an index-based deal that was due to expire this quarter.
The rate compares with the $54,700 daily available in the spot market and the $65,400 per day year-to-date average for VLCCs when adjusted for slow steaming, according to Icap data.
