Products tanker rates are rallying with analysts welcoming the official opening of the strong winter season and projecting new year-to-date highs may be imminent.

Earnings spiked significantly last week as the market pulled away from a two-month slumber.

Ben Nolan of Stifel says an upturn in refinery utilisation after the maintenance season boosted rates last week with the return of more capacity in the next three weeks expected to raise refined product tanker demand by 7% to 9%.
