The US Coast Guard cited four ships for alleged oily water separator (OWS) and oil record book (ORB) deficiencies in November, according to newly released data.
The quartet are among 11 ships held in the agency’s monthly list of detentions reportable to the International Maritime Organization.
ORB and OWS violations are a key area of focus for the Coast Guard, and the deficiencies often lead to prosecutions under US laws that implement the Marpol pollution convention.
