What had once been a key trade for suezmax tankers – the West Africa-to-US run – is expected to recover in the coming quarters, shipbroker Poten & Parts said.

Imports of West African imports were hard-hit by the US oil glut, virtually disappearing for about two years.

But crude imports to the US have already recovered partially now that the gap between US and international prices has thinned to nil following the end of the crude export ban, which capped declines since 2011.
