Exmar and BW Gas have concluded a vessel swap deal that sees the Belgian owner focusing on mid-size gas carriers.

Four ships of between 35,000 cbm and 38,000 cbm will go to Exmar, plus a payment of $35m, in exchange for two VLGCs going the other way.

But Exmar said it was still taking a book loss of $25m on the agreement.

The two big vessels are the 85,000-cbm Flanders Liberty (built 2007) and Flanders Loyalty (built 2008), while BW Gas is transferring the 35,000-cbm BW Hugin (built 2002), BW Helga (built 1994) and BW Hedda (built 1993), plus the 50%-owned 38,000-cbm BW Sombeke (built 2006), which Exmar owned the other half of.
