Brazilian oil company Petrobras has snapped up six MR tankers on three-year deals.

Brokers said the mostly modern vessels will earn $14,000 per day.

This compares to $8,800 per day in the Atlantic Basin spot market.

The vessels include Prisco’s 47,000-dwt FSL Singapore (built 2006) and the 47,000-dwt Ludovica (built 1998), operated by Tomasos Brothers of Greece.

Petrobras has also chartered a 49,000-dwt to-be-nominated vessel built in 2010, Tsakos’ 53,000-dwt Artemis (built 2005) and 37,000-dwt Andromeda (built 2007), and the 46,000-dwt Arcadia I (built 2007), operated by Mantinia Shipping of Greece.
