NewLead Holdings has secured the second contract extension for one of its five bitumen tankers.

The company said the new charter for the 5,887-dwt Newlead Granadino (built 2009) will last for six months, starting at the end of July.

An unidentified charterer hired the vessel in September 2015 at $10,500 per day, with options to extend the deal at $10,750.

Michael Zolotas, chairman of NewLead, said: “The second extension of the current contract of Newlead Granadino reflects the satisfaction of the charterer by the operational performance of the vessel amongst some of the most demanding trade routes and petroleum refineries of the world, as well as by NewLead’s competitive and efficient management of its bitumen tanker vessels.”
