Shipping companies eagerly anticipating using the expanded Panama Canal may have to pay for retrofit works on their vessels in order to become compliant.

According to the waterway’s guidelines, vessels should be modified to meet requirements for the new mooring arrangement plan.

Chocks and bollards are necessary for ships while installation drawings of new mooring fittings including supporting structure arrangements below the deck are another prerequisite.
