The Brazilian tanker market has been tipped to heat up into 2017 as more FPSOs start producing crude.

Westshore’s Brazilian tanker broker Daniel Buckley said: “We can anticipate an increase in the demand for tankers as a result of new FPSOs commencing production and recently installed ones reaching their peak between now and 2017.”

In a report, he said the Petrobras-controlled Cidade de Itaguai is now producing 150,000 barrels per day (bpd), with five loadings per month predicted.
