A press trip to India’s shiprecycling heartland of Alang — arranged by leading Danish shipping group Maersk last week — has ended up generating some negative publicity.
Last week, Brussels-based shiprecycling lobby group NGO Shipbreaking Platform claimed its invitation to join the Alang press trip had been cancelled at the last minute.
NGO Shipbreaking Platform executive director Patrizia Heidegger says she was initially invited to join journalists but was later told by Maersk that the trip had been postponed.
