China dominates the global shipbuilding stage with a 45% market share and an orders backlog of 116.7 million dwt by the end of September, according to Clarksons’ World Shipyard Monitor.
However, the volume of new contracts that the country secured fell by 67% to 130 units compared with the same period last year. The weak performance is in line with the poor demand for newbuildings.
