Shanghai-listed Cosco Shipping Ltd (Coscol) is reorganising its operations in specialised general cargo shipping as part of a bid to dominate the high end of the heavylift project shipping market and simultaneously exploit its underused handysize bulker capacity more efficiently.

The state-owned company, also known as Cosco Guangzhou, operates in six specialised segments — semisubmersible heavylift ships, heavylift multipurpose (MPP) vessels, conventional MPP units, handysize log-carrying bulkers, car carriers and asphalt tankers.
