UK-based British Marine has sold its oldest vessel — a 12-year-old supramax — as it continues to clear out its elderly bulkers.

Sources say the Mitsui Shipbuilding & Engineering-built, 50,000-dwt Clementine (built 2004) has gone to a Chinese buyer for $6.7m, slightly more than expected. The UK owner did not reply to requests for comment.

British Marine is listed with a fleet of eight bulkers — from handymax to kamsarmax built between 2000 and 2016 — after selling the 48,000-dwt Marylebone (renamed Rashad, built 2001) to Gurita Lintas of Indonesia for $3m in April.
