German freight giant DHL has launched arbitration over its charter dispute with Greece’s NewLead Holdings as it seeks to keep its US court fight open.

Court records show that ocean shipping arm DHL Project & Chartering started proceedings under the London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA), opening the third front in a battle over the charter of the 135,000-dwt bulker NewLead Venetico (built 1990).
