South Korea’s shipyards have reacted angrily to a long-awaited government response on restructuring the shipbuilding sector in the face of the sharp downturn in orders.
Senior yard managers and those working with the shipyards have told TradeWinds that the details, which emerged from a cabinet meeting on Monday, essentially amount to voluntary restructuring that is already underway.
“It’s nothing new,” one said.
