Several Greek names, including some hitherto unknown companies, have emerged on the buy-side of fresh vessel transactions.
This strengthens the impression of much of the local shipping scene being in a state of flux, particularly among smaller owners.
One of the recently established outfits appearing on the radar is Lion Bulk Carriers. The Athens-based company is the new owner and manager of the 28,000-dwt Daisy K (renamed Explorer, built 2012), which was sold last month by Japanese interests for a reported $7.9m.
