Americans have followed Britain, ignoring warnings of upheaval to vote perhaps more with their hearts than with their heads. Donald Trump, who has never held high office, promised to storm the White House with a “Brexit plus, plus, plus” campaign.
And much to everyone’s astonishment — including that of swathes of his own Republican Party who opposed him — he has succeeded.
