Addressing top Greek owners at the Athens Megaron Hall, Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras assured the industry of his government’s backing.
“The state will continue to support Greek shipping’s interests in international organisations,” Tsipras said.
He acknowledged that the industry was going through a particularly difficult time characterised by an anaemic global economy, regulatory change and pressure from European Union competition authorities who want to change its tax status.
