Three very large ethane carrier (VLEC) newbuildings worth nearly $400m contracted by a Jaccar Holdings group company at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore (DSIC Offshore) in China have been slashed from a five-ship order after a downpayment was not received.
Newbuilding sources say the owner, Jaccar Holdings-controlled-Greenship Gas, made a first payment of 5% of the contract price on the original quintet to DSIC.
