Australian miner Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) is already looking past the first of its eight newbuildings that are starting to roll out, tailor-made to optimise loading at its Port Hedland facilities in Western Australia.

On delivery, they will carry a modest 12% of FMG’s current ore export volumes.

“There has been no decision taken to go beyond these eight but we are looking to the market for opportunities,” chief executive Nev Power told TradeWinds.
