Optima Energy Group is understood to have secured its first ships, having bought a trio of medium-range (MR) products tankers from Sinokor, while India Steamship is believed to be selling its four long-range-two (LR2) tankers.
Sources say shipowning newcomer Optima Energy had been looking to buy tankers and inspected other units before it made a move.
While market talk had placed its debut buy at anywhere between two and six MRs from Sinokor, sources suggested by midweek that the deal involved three units.
