The name of new alternative-financing vehicle Meerbaum Capital Partners tells its own story about the breakout venture.
With “meer” the German word for ocean, and “baum” the word for tree, it perfectly reflects yet another partnership between
Greek shipowner Petros Pappas’ Oceanbulk and private equity’s Oaktree Capital Management.
Like publicly listed dry owner Star Bulk Carriers, it will combine Pappas’ shipping expertise with Oaktree funds looking to find ways to make money in shipping.
