South Korean bulker giant Polaris Shipping is making its tanker market debut with an order for a pair of aframaxes at Daehan Shipbuilding.
The ships are scheduled for delivery in early 2018, although Polaris has been given until the first quarter of next year to convert the original order for products carriers into crude oil tankers.
Shipping sources say Polaris’ newbuildings are not a “fresh order” as the ships were initially ordered as two newcastlemax bulkers signed two years ago.
