Two sales of modern subsea vessels are showing sharp discounts on their original yard prices, although both ships have already found work with their new owners in the dire offshore sector.

The sales in recent weeks relate to vessels from Norwegian private owners Volstad Shipping and Olympic Shipping, which is close to finalizing its restructuring (see stories facing page).

Giant engineering contractor Allseas bought the 128-metre Volstad Oceanic (built 2016), which has now been renamed Oceanic, and offshore contractor Swire Seabed bought the 115-metre Olympic Athene (built 2014), which has been renamed Seabed Constructor.
