Berge Bulk says it will continue to trade its 30-year-old, 365,000-dwt very large ore carrier (VLOC) Berge Stahl (built 1986) after putting it through a drydocking in China.
Speculation over the bulker’s future emerged this week when shiprecycling lobby group Shipbreaking Platform warned that the ship could be heading for the breaking beaches of the Indian subcontinent.
Such a move, it claimed, would violate European hazardous waste laws and put the vessel at risk of arrest at its next European port of call.
