Hope appears to spring eternal among capesize owners during a year of record low rates with a surprisingly low portion of vessels placed into lay-up ultimately finding their way to the breakers beaches.
During the past year 106 capesizes have been identified as entering either warm or cold lay-up and only one of these has been sent for demolition, according to a study by MarineTraffic.
