A deal signed days ahead of the Christmas holiday has finally drawn a line under a spat between the protection-and-indemnity (P&I) clubs and the International Oil Pollution Compensation (IOPC) Funds.
Hugo Wynn-Williams, the UK Club chief who is chairman of the International Group, the organisation that links the 13 major P&I clubs, and Jose Maura, director of the IOPC Funds, signed an agreement that restores co-operation between the key parties that pick up the bill for tanker spills.
