Hellenic owners bought 234 ships for an estimated outlay of about $2.7bn over the past year, according to data compiled by TradeWinds based on confirmed sales of vessels for further trading that have actually materialised.
On the sales side, Greeks have shed at least 78 ships for an estimated $1.6bn.
The figures include 48 transactions between Greek owners worth $692m. About 10 of those were internal deals within the same shipping groups.
