A historic LNG carrier has slowed its speed on a voyage to Northern Europe due to a lack of sea ice in the Arctic required for the ship to be trialled before its final delivery.

SCF Group’s 172,600-cbm newbuilding Christophe de Margerie is not now due to arrive at Zeebrugge in Belgium until 20 February while its shipyard owner, DSME, waits for sea ice conditions in the Arctic to improve.
