China saw a large increase in the number of refined products cargoes it exported last year as it liberalised its refinery sector and allowed surpluses of diesel and petrol to be sent out. But further gains in those volumes may be challenged this year when export quotas are lowered.

The Ministry of Commerce has issued the first of four 2017 quotas for refined products exports.
