Top Japanese shipowner Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has turned to Aon to place its protection-and-indemnity (P&I) cover in what amounts to a significant breakthrough in one of the least insurance broker-minded markets.
Like most other Japanese owners, NYK has previously had a direct relationship with its P&I clubs but goes into the February renewal with a megabroker in its corner.
