It has been a year without major casualties but, nevertheless, a tumultuous period for the protection-and-indemnity (P&I) market.

The event that attracted the most attention — a plan to create a P&I superclub through the merger of the Britannia and UK clubs — sank before it could be launched but may yet turn out to be a prescient event.
