Iceland’s Eimskip has put the finishing touches to a potential $192m newbuilding project involving the largest ships it has ever constructed.
The containership owner is said to have commissioned Chinese state-owned Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard for up to six 2,200-teu ice-class newbuildings.
Informed sources say Eimskip has penned three firm vessels at Wenchong for delivery between late 2018 and 2019. The deal extends to three optional vessels.
