Senior officials say the company plans to charter up to three boxships for between eight and 18 months.
SCI plans to hire one ship of between 1,200 teu and 1,500 teu and another of between 1,500 teu and 1,800 teu.
Another within the 4,500-teu to 5,000-teu range is also on its radar.
The officials tell TradeWinds that the bigger boxship is expected to be deployed for Sri Lanka, Far East and the international trades.
