Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Marine Corp is exploring an order for new tankers.
Informed sources say the Taiwanese company is in talks with shipyards in the Far East for three 50,000-dwt IMO II/III chemical tanker newbuildings for delivery in 2018.
“The company put out a tender late last year and shipyards from Japan, South Korea and China were invited to bid for the project,” said one shipbuilding player.
