Not many capitals in the world can still boast a sizeable working shipyard a stone’s throw from the city centre.

But Finland’s Arctic and icebreaker specialist Arctech Helsinki Shipyard occupies 16.7 hectares of prime waterfront real estate and has a land lease running until 2035. Since its establishment in 1865, it has been a significant contributor to the Helsinki economy.

There are more than 1,400 personnel on site — 600 employed directly and the rest working for subcontractors.
