Bangladesh owner Evergreen Shipping aims to expand its coastal fleet as it seeks long-term business opportunities with neighbouring India.
According to broking sources, the Dhaka-based coastal shipping player has signed a contract with compatriot Western Marine Shipyard to build up to 20 newbuildings of 1,500 dwt.
TradeWinds is told the newbuilding contract is worth $35m, with deliveries expected to begin in the middle of next year.
