The Seoul-based company is said to be in discussions with Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for up to seven open-hatch carriers for delivery between 2018 and 2019.
Industry sources say Pan Ocean is ordering the 62,000-dwt newbuildings to transport wood pulp from Brazil to Europe and the Far East. They believe Pan Ocean has secured a long-term contract-of-affreightment (COA) from Brazil’s Fibria Celulose.
