Norwegian business daily Dagens Naeringsliv reports that Gard has an 8.85% subscription share of the insurance that covered the Siri oil platform, discovered to have serious structural damage in 2009.
There is a high-profile dispute between Oslo-listed independent exploration and production company Noreco, which owned half the platform, and 24 insurers, including Gard.
As TradeWinds has reported previously, Noreco won a $383m award from Copenhagen’s Maritime and Commercial High Court in December, with interest raising the amount to $475m.
