SCF Group (Sovcomflot)’s pioneering ice-breaking LNG carrier has completed and passed its ice trials in the Russian Arctic.

The Arc7, 173,400-cbm newbuilding Christophe de Margerie (built 2016) was put through its paces breaking 1.5-metre thick ice, moving both stern first and bow first.

The vessel also completed a turning test and tackled an ice ridge during the trial, operating in temperatures of -25 to -30°C.
