AP LNG snaps up Yemen ship at low rate

Australia Pacific LNG (AP LNG) has fixed one of the vessels chartered long-term to the Yemen LNG project and currently trading spot at a rate below a mark of $20,000 per day.

Brokers say AP LNG has taken the 165,500-cbm Arwa Spirit (built 2008) on charter, quoting an initial rate in the range of $18,000 to $19,000 per day.

The Australian producer emerged in the market last month for an LNG carrier to take on charter for 21 days, with options on three more periods of three months, suggesting the charterer was testing market sentiment for the remainder of the year.

Rates
