US transport secretary Elaine Chao said President Donald Trump’s infrastructure improvement will include maritime facilities as she attended the naming ceremony of the latest ship in the US-flag fleet.

Chao made the comments at the naming in Beaumont, Texas, of the 6,500-car-equivalent-unit ro-ro Liberty Passion (built 2017), which shipowner Liberty Global Logistics (LGL) has bareboat-chartered from Norwegian Car Carriers.

LGL, an affiliate of Philip Shapiro-led Liberty Maritime, is enrolled in the US government’s Maritime Security Program, which helps fund 60 participating US-flag ships.
