International Seaways is prepared to start a fleet-renewal plan with one-off purchases of secondhand vessels in a climate where capital is tough to come by for large-scale buys.

That was the word this week from Lois Zabrocky, the fledgling company’s chief executive, in a sidelines interview with Trade-Winds after her appearance on a tanker panel at this week’s Connecticut Maritime Association conference.
