The past six months have seen 10 known cancellations — nine floaters and only one jack-up — according to Clarkson Research.

Rig contracting actually increased in February, with 12 new fixtures for jack-ups and eight new ones for floaters in just one month. Only four jack-ups were contracted long-term over the preceding six months.

The health of the rig market is a key concern for owners of offshore support vessels (OSVs), as demand for OSVs is often described as a first derivative of working rigs.
