Marine sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor has unveiled a dramatic installation in London focused on the menace of ocean plastic.

“Plasticide” aims to bring home the reality of pollution in oceans and its effect on marine life. The artwork has been produced in collaboration with Greenpeace and installed outside the National Theatre.

The 2.5-tonne piece features pH-neutral concrete sculptures of life-size human figures integrating carbon-captured materials alongside recovered ocean plastics, employing a technique not used before.
