SCF Group (Sovcomflot) has opened a new chapter in Arctic history by bringing the first of a new breed of LNG carrier into its home port of Sabetta on the Yamal peninsula.

The 172,600-cbm newbuilding Christophe de Margerie is the first of four among Yamal’s 15-ship Arc7 LNG carrier fleet that South Korea's DSME will deliver this year.

Aside from Sovcomflot’s ship, Dynagas and partner Sinotrans will take delivery of two Arc7 vessels in August and September to October, and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) — working with China Shipping Development Co (CLNG) — one lone vessel in December.
